I actively avoid airport hotels – they are usually tired, offer mediocre service and food as their business is almost guaranteed from the airport. As a result they get lazy and tend not need to try as hard as other hotels may.
What a surprise then, the Renaissance at London’s Heathrow Airport is…
From the genuinely warm greeting from “Moon” at reception, the speedy check in process (2 minutes) to the rooms which are spotless, spacious and well appointed to the very welcoming chap David in the Executive Lounge, the Renaissance has an impressive service ethic which some of its neighbours in the same area would do well to learn from.
Well done to all and I would not hesitate to return. I stayed in room 3210 which is a suite facing the airport runway. Great for plane gazing and whilst loud aircraft noise is not a problem, you are aware of the aircraft passing so if you are a light sleeper, opt for a room at the back of the hotel.
Service in the hotel bar was also friendly, efficient and no-nonsense.
The hotel also uses a very good local limo provider which offers good vehicles and drivers at reasonable prices.
